USAID commissioned this study to identify and evaluate potential new markets that could be developed for Hungarian agricultural exporters. IOS Principals undertook a detailed analysis of existing agricultural exports from Hungary, the markets they are exported to, and confirmed volumes and trends. A strategic plan was developed and contacts with possible importers and distributors for agricultural and other products were identified. The effort resulted in a significant increase in agricultural exports to the targeted markets. |

MOROCCO - Cold Storage Needs for Palm Dates |

IOS Partners is currently engaged in a technical assistance project in Morocco to conduct a comprehensive study to identify the specific needs of and feasibility for date cold storage and associated postharvest handling infrastructure, including value-added product agroprocessing facilities, which would help reduce the losses in quantity and quality of dates in Morocco. The project includes an assessment of the needs in terms of the most appropriate postharvest handling, storage, and market preparation technologies (i.e. cleaning, grading, packing, dehydration/hydration, insect disinfestation, packaging), and the appropriate quantity/sizes of cold storage facilities. The Team will determine the technical and financial feasibility of investing in a cold storage network and affiliated postharvest care infrastructure for dates in the 5 main production provinces of Morocco. |

IOS Partners conducted an in-depth enterprise study to assess the status of enterprises to be supported through technical assistance and market assessments. The firm studied a large number of enterprises including the provision of comprehensive technical assistance to the fruit and vegetable processing industry as well as a feasibility study for the exports of mangos to the USA – resulting in the gift, from the US Government, of an aseptic processing plant to treat the mangos before export to the USA. |

IOS Partners is currently engaged in the development of a national wine strategy and action plan for the Republic of Georgia. Activities include:
- Reviewing the current status of the Georgian Wine industry;
- Recommend a short to medium-term strategy and specific action plan for supporting the industry in the wake of losing its market in Russia;
- Recommend a strategy to diversify its markets and reduce its dependence on Russia and the ex-Soviet countries; and
- Establish a concrete and detailed road map for implementation of both the short and longer-term strategies.
